Kleptomania was a compulsion to steal things. An individual with kleptomania was known as a kleptomaniac. "Kleptomaniac" was also used as a derogatory term for a thief.
Behind the scenesEdit
Kleptomania is a real-world impulse-control disorder that is characterized by recurrent failure to resist impulses to steal objects. The theft is usually not committed to express anger or in revenge, and the impulses are not due to a delusion or hallucination.
