Klis Joo was a Jedi Knight who served as the governor of Forard in the last decades of the Galactic Republic.[1]

As a child on Duro, she showed the general technological aptitude as the rest of her species, but she was found to be Force-sensitive and taken to Coruscant to train as a Jedi. During her training, she met fellow Jedi Nerra Ziveri Although Joo was too calm for a Jedi, she was also persistent and eventually became a jedi Knight.[1]

At some point during Joo's career, she met semi-legit Corellian mechanic Bran Isken, who was repairing a ship for some Duros at that moment. Joo noticed Isken's skill.[1]

After becoming a Jedi Knight, she returned to Duro to serve there, but found she did not belong anymore. She was uncomfortable with the deference of her people, and left when she could not stand it anymore.[1]

Nerra Ziveri had invited her to come to Almas to teach at the Academy there. She accepted, though Ziveri had left mysteriously by the time she arrived in 53 BBY. She was again uncomfortable with her situation. She found teaching to be boring and lacked patience with her students.[1]

The Academy was near a non-Jedi town, Forard, that had been founded mainly to service the praxeum. When the previous governor of Forard died, Klis Joo stepped in and took over the post. She turned out to be an excellent administrator. She strived to improved things, wanting the town to become something special. One of the things she was responsible for was the expansion and upgrading of Forard's spaceport, from a four-ship facility to a twenty-ship center, with the services of mechanic magister Bran Isken.[1]

[edit] Personality and traits

Klis Joo was short for a Duros, but otherwise had a pretty typical appearance. She was a bit hot-tempered for a Duros or a Jedi, being close to a normal human in temperament. Like most Duros, she hated being taken for a Neimoidian. She enjoyed technology and tinkering with ships, and as a hobby worked on a racing ship for the Eskaron Games. As an administrator, she had fallen out of practice of listening to the Force for guidance.[1]
