Knightquest is a fan film that made its debut on the internet in October 2001, created by fans of the Star Wars franchise. It is a live-action drama set in the Star Wars universe, taking place a few weeks before the events in A New Hope. It depicts Darth Vader's ongoing quest to seek out and destroy any Jedi who may have escaped the great purge years ago.

Knightquest is notable among fanfilms for having been shot on film, as opposed to the more common digital video. It was also mastered in THX Dolby Surround, and features a special Star Wars themed THX introduction before the film.

The film has been generally well-received by fans, and has been consistently mentioned in the press as a turning point in the development of fanfilms. The film has also won several awards, including Best Actress and Best Special Effects in the 2001 Force 3.75 Austrailian Fanfilm Festival.

References to Star Wars Canon and FanonEdit

  • Ben Fletcher has provided Vader's voice for the third time in Star Wars Canon/Fanon. He also voiced the character for a number of fan mock projects, however James Earl Jones' voice was used as the voice of Vader for the first movie commercial.
  • The story takes place a few weeks before the events in A New Hope.
  • Obi-Wan Kenobi is mentioned in this movie to be responsible for the first death of Darth Vader and is living near the Dune Sea on Tatooine. These events occurred in Revenge of the Sith. It is unknown how Ulic discovered that Obi-Wan was on Tatooine after the first death of Vader because only Yoda and Bail Organa know that Obi-Wan is on Tatooine. There is speculation that Ulic could've contacted Yoda some point before he went into isolation or he found another way to contact Obi-Wan and Yoda before he went into exile on Dagobah.
  • Vader acquired the Jedi holocron from the Emperor's Hand in Star Wars: Revelations and claimed he would use it to locate and destroy the Jedi, however the opening crawl of the movie states that he's been locating the Jedi through tips and rumors. Whether on not this is a spin-off of Star Wars: Revelations is unknown.
