A space station was in orbit of Korriban^[4] in 3,681 BBY.^[5] The station was attacked by the Sith Empire in the early stages of the Great Galactic War.^[4] It was primarily used to monitor the Korriban system, to prevent any Sith sympathizers acquiring Sith artifacts and to prevent smugglers from stealing them.

After the attack it is unknown if the Sith Empire simply destroyed the station, or they refitted it to serve the Empire and protect the newly formed Sith Academy from Republic strikes. It could have also been a supply and launch point for the Sith attack on the Core worlds of the Galaxy.
