Koyi Mateil was a wealthy Twi'lek duchess[1] who was present outside[3] the Galaxies Opera House in the Uscru District of the planet Coruscant[4] in the year 19 BBY[5] during a performance of the opera Squid Lake.[4] The duchess was walking alongside[3] Duke Teta[2] up the opera house's steps in front of[3] the human Ulfor Bombaasa and alien Opula Deget[2] when the Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker ran past them on his way to meet with Supreme Chancellor Sheev Palpatine.[3] Mateil had orange skin and brown eyes. The Twi'lek was wearing a bejewelled white dress and a silver headpiece on the night of the opera.[2]
Behind the scenes[]
Koyi Mateil first appeared in the prequel trilogy film Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith,[3] which released on May 19, 2005.[6] The opera steps scene was filmed on R Stage at Shepperton Studios as part of additional photography on Monday, August 23, 2004.[7] Mateil's costume consisted of a Jersey evening dress with a beaded bodice.[8]
In the new Star Wars canon, the character's name was first used by the 2017 reference book Star Wars: The Visual Encyclopedia.[2] The name originated in Dressing a Galaxy: The Costumes of Star Wars, a Star Wars Legends reference book written by Trisha Biggar[8] and released on October 11, 2005.[9]
