The Krayt's Honor was a modified Gozanti-class cruiser owned by the Kel Dor Siqo Vass prior to the Clone Wars. It attained notoriety for protecting merchant ships and shipping companies in the Outer Rim Territories, who would often be raided by pirates hired by the Trade Federation.

Description[]

Modified by its owner, Siqo Vass, the Krayt's Honor looked like any other Gozanti-class cruiser from the outside. However, it was equipped with a military-class deflector shield generator and illegal weaponry, including eight laser turrets, two proton torpedo launchers, two quad laser cannons, and three turbolasers. Its sublight engine was also upgraded clandestinely. Its upgrades enabled the Krayt's Honor to go up against far bigger starships.[1]

History[]

Early contracts[]

Long before the Clone Wars between the Confederacy of Independent Systems and the Galactic Republic,[2] the Krayt's Honor was used by the Kel Dor Siqo Vass and his crew to offer protection contracts to shipping companies and merchant ships in the Outer Rim Territories. Vass's aid was particularly valuable, as the Trade Federation was known to send pirates after their rivals. Due to their actions, the Krayt's Honor was constantly pursued by bounty hunters of the Trade Federation and found itself cornered at every turn, until it ran into a stroke of luck.[1]

A stroke of luck[]

At some point prior to the Clone Wars, the crew of the Krayt's Honor took on a contract to defend a luxury yacht against a pirate attack. After repelling the attack, Vass and his men found out that they had been protecting the Hutt crime lord Jabba Desilijic Tiure from an attack by one of his rivals. The Hutt, thankful, offered the the crew of the Krayt's Honor refuge on Tatooine. Under Jabba's protection, very few bounty hunters went after the Krayt's Honor again.[1] In both 32 BBY[3][4] and 22 BBY,[3] the cruiser was present in the spaceport of Mos Espa.[2]

The Krayt's Honor, as it appeared in Star Wars Legends

The Krayt's Honor first appeared, albeit unnamed, in Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace.[4] The cruiser was identified in the 34th issue of Star Wars: Build the Millennium Falcon,[5] which was released on August 26, 2015.[6] Its backstory was later expanded upon in Walkers and Ground Vehicles of the Empire and First Order,[1] a booklet in a series of canon reference booklets titled the Star Wars Encyclopedia, published on May 11, 2021.[7]

The cruiser originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was identified in a 2006 Databank entry,[8] and its backstory was elaborated upon by "KenobiDX67" through StarWars.com's Hyperspace feature "What's The Story?"[9]
