Overview
Edit

It was equipped with five pairs of legs, a tough reddish-brown exoskeleton, and large mandibles. Giving birth to young in the form of maggot-like larvae, kreetles thrived on garbage and vegetable remains, and could often be found in abandoned profogg burrows. Despite their small size, kreetles were aggressive arthropods, but posed little threat to travelers in the large cities they colonized near. Overkreetles were the obvious exception: extremely large kreetles, they were capable of killing any amateur fighter in the wilderness. Luckily, overkreetles were rarely found near the proximity of a city.
Kreetles were native to Naboo,[1] possibly brought there after having stowed away upon ships departing from Tatooine. From Naboo the kreetle was transported to its moon Ohma-D'un. The Gungans used kreetles as nutcrackers, but also found the arthropod to be a tasty snack.
Kreetles fed on flesh, whether living or dead.[1] These creatures shared a symbiotic relationship with slaatik hagworms in the Lianorm Swamp.
Probably due to its close proximity to Tatooine, kreetles were also a common sight on Geonosis. They were also found on other planets, such as Kashyyyk, where they were presumably brought by Geonosians shortly before the Battle of Kashyyyk in 19 BBY.
The word "kreetle" was sometimes used as an insult.[2]
