Training Ventress
Edit
- "You are strong with the Force, little one."
- ―Ky Narec

Narec's ship crashed on the barbaric planet Rattatak approximately a decade before the Clone Wars. There, Narec was immediately attacked by the locals. He fought the raiders and then found a slave Dathomirian girl named Asajj Ventress, and after watching her Force push a raider away, found her to be strong in the Force, taught her the Jedi arts.
Years later, as Ventress grew older, she and Narec fought against the Rattataki warlord Osika Kirske and eventually became heroes of Rattatak. However, before Narec had the chance to finish Ventress' Jedi training, he was shot in the back by a Weequay raider, hired by Kirske. Kirske had formed a temporary truce with the other warlords of Rattatak in a unanimous attempt to eliminate both Ventress and Ky Narec.
Legacy
Edit
Enraged by Narec's death, Ventress turned to the dark side and later joined the Confederacy of Independent Systems to fight the Jedi, whom she thought of as having abandoned Narec, at the behest of Darth Tyranus.
In memory of her former master, Asajj tattooed her hairless head with twelve marks, one for each of the twelve warlords she had killed after swearing their deaths.
Narec's lightsaber was kept in Ventress' palace, to remind her of him. Obi-Wan Kenobi used it in conjunction with his own to battle against Ventress. Ventress was very angry that her enemy was using her master's lightsaber. As Kenobi fled Rattatak with ARC trooper Alpha, he told Asajj that fighting would not bring her master back.
Sometime after these events, when Dooku's assassination attempt on her failed, Ventress fled to the planet Dathomir, where she received treatment from Mother Talzin and her clan of Nightsisters. During this treatment, Ventress had memory flashbacks of how she had met Narec, her training with him, and ultimately his death. Later, Ventress, Naa'leth, and Karis attacked Count Dooku and nearly killed him, but he proved too powerful and he used Force lightning and forced them all to the cliff below. They all survived. The reason for this attack was to get Ventress the revenge she longed for.
