The LAF-250, also known as the Light Attack Fighter and the '250, was a light starfighter used primarily by the Corellian Defense Force, having been created to police the Corellian sector.

Designed by the Corellian Engineering Corporation and built under the aegis of the Republic Engineering Corporation, the LAF-250 was designed to combine the traditional role of a starfighter with patrol duties.

CharacteristicsEdit

The design was reasonably maneuverable, and capable of extended patrols of up to 48 hours, but shielding, speed, and hull armor were no more than moderate. In particular, the design's weapons loadout was light, consisting of just a pair of laser cannons. While suitable for police work, the '250 was no match for well-equipped pirates.

HistoryEdit

Designed by the Corellian Engineering Corporation and built under the aegis of the Republic Engineering Corporation, the LAF-250 was designed to combine the traditional role of a starfighter with patrol duties. Their performance was not always exemplary, however, and after an entire wing of these starfighters was destroyed by one old Nebulon-B frigate, the Corellian Defense Force demanded modifications to give the design greater speed and combat capabilities. Manufacturers complied, and the modified version proved more successful, eventually redesignated the HLAF-500.
