Lagartoz War Dragons was the name of the Basiliskans during their slavery under the Mandalorians since the Battle of Basilisk in 3,997 BBY.

Because of their tough hides and claws (not to mention how easily they could be trained) and their intelligence, their Mandalorian masters used them as weapons for aerial and ground fighting during later wars including the New Sith Wars. As a result of this abuse, the Basiliskans degenerated and become nothing more than savage beasts. Thus, this was how they came to be called Lagartoz War Dragons.

[edit] Behind the scenes

In some non-standard dialects of Spanish and Portuguese languages, Lagartoz means "lizards". The correct form for plural of "lagarto" (lizard) is "Lagartos", in both languages.
