Laranth Tarak was a female green-skinned Twi'lek and a Gray Paladin, a Force-sensitive that fought with more weapons than just a lightsaber. Instead, she preferred using twin blasters. She was a childhood friend of Jax Pavan, and would eventually assist him in his search for Bug-Eyes, and later join Whiplash with him.

[edit] Biography
Laranth survived Order 66 hiding near a vaporator plant in the Blackpit Slums. She met Jax Pavan shortly after Order 66, when both were working with Whiplash against the Empire. She helped in his search for Bug-Eyes, along with I-5YQ and Den Dhur.
[edit] Whiplash
After Bug-Eyes was revealed to be a trap for Jax set up by Darth Vader himself, she lived with Jax and his companions for a time, joining them in the underground resistance movement known as Whiplash. As a part of Whiplash, she helped Jax and their companions assist wanted beings to escape Coruscant. One of their clients, a Zeltron named Dejah Duare, came to them for help getting off-world. However, shortly afterwards, Dejah's partner, Ves Volette, was brutally murdered, and Jax and his friends agreed to help investigate. During the investigation, Laranth dueled Aurra Sing, whom Vader had sent to track down Jax, in a carnival. Once the investiagtion was finally ended, Sing once again caught up to the companions, and attacked, and Laranth's right arm was severed by Sing's lightsaber. Shortly thereafter, during her recovery, Laranth declared that she was going to leave Jax's group, saying that she could work better on her own, aiding Whiplash directly instead of working with Jax on his private investigations.
[edit] Back with Jax
She still helped Jax and his companions occasionally, however, assisting them as the Inquisitors closed in on finding Pavan. She and Jax together found Kajin Savaros after the boy defeated a well-trained Inquisitor singlehandedly. She later assisted Kaj when he was ambushed by Inquisitors on Gallery Row. Before long, however, she was betrayed by Dejah to the Inquisitors, and captured with Kaj. In the Imperial Security Bureau she was tortured by Vader and the Inquisitors, until she got caught up in the chaos of Jax's rescue mission. She survived, however, and decided to continue helping Jax and his surviving companions.
[edit] Personality and traits
Laranth was muscular and tall. Her face and neck were scarred from an early mission against the Empire, which had also cost her ten centimeters of her left lekku. Far from trying to cover up her disfigurements, she did not have the scarring removed, and kept her lekku in front of herself so that they could be seen.
Due to her Gray Paladin training she was an excellent shot with her two blasters, able to even shoot other blaster bolts off of their trajectories, deflecting them as if with a lightsaber. She hated to be stripped of her weapons.
Laranth's past is largely unknown, and she rarely revealed any of her personal thoughts or feelings to others. When she developed an attraction to Jax Pavan, she did not admit it to him but became very quiet and withdrawn, finally only letting Jax know by opening herself to him in the Force in a very personal session in which he also revealed his thoughts to her. Though they both realized that Jax returned her affections, he was totally inexperienced with relationships and Laranth withdrew from the connection, to Jax' confusion. Several times after this, Jax would sense that Laranth still had feelings for him, but he failed to act on any of these, again due to his inexperience.
After Laranth's capture and torture at the hands of Darth Vader a few months later, Jax confronted Laranth about their mutual attraction, this time refusing to let her dismiss it as she had in the past. Jax and Laranth again opened themselves to each other in the Force, finally realizing that they did love each other. However, they mutually came to a decision to not rush into anything.
