[edit] Biography

"Greetings, Green squad. Congratulations on completing your training. As you know, the Rebellion is facing critical supply shortages. Therefore, Rebel High Command has instructed us to direct our efforts towards finding new sources of food and material. Your first mission is to contact the leader of the planet Masterhome, and open negotiations to provide supplies for the Rebellion."
―Lens Reekeene briefs the Green squad.[src]

In 14 BBY, at forty years of age, Lens commanded a mercenary company performing garrison duties for the Sartran Corporation. Sartran was disbanded by the Galactic Empire and the mercenaries employed by the company were imprisoned under false charges of conspiracy. While on jail, Lens met engineer Mikka Reekeene, also a former employee of Sartran. Lens and Mikka Reekeene got married in jail.[1]

Mikka Reekeene was released because of a management mistake. He then devoted his time to get money which he would use to buy Lens's freedom. He achieved this in 11 BBY. Once free, Lens discovered that most of her mercenaries had died in prison. Wanting to get revenge on the Empire, Lens joined the Rebellion, and her less political husband followed.[1]

Soon, Lens became a high-ranking officer of the Alliance, eventually a General, and she kept her husband by her side as her advisor. At some point, the Reekeenes were contacted by Santhou Lazith'chika, a mysterious alien who managed to gain their confidence. Lazith'chika became Mikka's main adviser, and Lens's second main adviser.[1]

The Reekeenes and Lazith'chika then founded the Reekeene's Roughnecks a guerrilla organization that harassed Imperial forces in the Fakir sector. They intended to attract Imperial attention, diverting their resources from the Alliance main fleet. Lens Reekeene's constant attacks to governmental offices overwhelmed the local moff, who asked the Empire to send a fleet as reinforcement.[1]

The Reekeenes and Lazith'chika were the highest-ranking members of the Roughnecks, briefing the members of any sub-team and answering to questions. Once briefed for a mission, a member of the Roughnecks could not speak with anyone except the Reekeenes or Lazith'chika, as a security measure.[1]

As such, in 0 ABY, Lens Reekeene and Lazith'chika briefed the Green squad of the Roughnecks for a diplomatic mission on Abonshee. Reekeene and Lazith'chika used holograms to confer with the Green squad. Reekene informed the Green squad of their goals and motivation: Following the orders of the High Command to obtain new sources of food, they were to negotiate with the native Anointed People in the name of the Alliance.[1]

Also around this time, Lens Reekeene joined her husband wife, Lazith'chika and Rebel Lieutenant Am Serro onboard Home to hear the report of special operative Tay "Tiree" Vanis's twentieth operation. Vanis had failed to recruit some new agents and he had also reached the limit of missions before mandatory retirement, but Lens Reekeene nevertheless assigned him a new job, recruiting some new agents that Vanis himself vouched for. None of the other officers objected anything to her.[2]

[edit] Personality and traits

"How clean were those six recruits you were bringing in? Could one have been a plant?"
―Lens Reekeene.[src]

A woman with piercing eyes and imposing presence, General Reekeene was icy cold with most people, except with her husband Mikka. Lens Reekeene, always a mercenary, kept her aggressive and militaristic tendencies even after joining the Rebel Alliance. Her philosophy on warfare was to keep moving, keep them nervous and tell others only what they needed to know. Mikka provided a more cautious and friendly face to the command of the Roughnecks.[1]

Reekeene commonly wore a blaster in her left hip and a vibroblade in her right boot, and she was adept in the use of any of those.[1]

Although most members of the Roughnecks wore colored armpatch identifying their squad, Lens, as a commanding officer, wore a white patch.[1]

[edit] Behind the scenes

"The original source that first described Lens Reekeene mentioned she resembled someone who would run a corner store more than a military leader, so it's a bit of a personal decision to illustrate her like someone I knew who ran a corner store many, many years ago."
Pablo Hidalgo.[[src]]

Lens Reekeene first appeared in "The Long Shot Campaign", a chapter of the role-playing book Star Wars Campaign Pack written by Paul Murphy and published by West End Games in 1988. "The Long Shot Campaign" was later re-published in 1994, along with another Campaign, in Classic Campaigns. Lens was first graphically depicted in the webcomic Rookies: Rendezvous (2006) by Pablo Hidalgo, basing her aspect in a personal acquaintance whose identity has not been revealed.[3]

Lens Reekeene's eyes were described as blue in "The Long Shot Campaign", but they appear to be darker in Rookiees: Rendezvous.
