The human Liana Merian served as an aide in the delegation representing the planet Alderaan in the Galactic Senate of the Galactic Republic during the Naboo Crisis[1] in 32 BBY.[2] Merian served alongside fellow aides Agrippa Aldrete and Stonroy Soma[1] under Alderaanian Senator Bail Antilles.[3] Merian had fair skin, brown eyes, and brown hair worn in buns on either side of their head with an outfit including a white dress.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
Liana Merian was a character created to appear in the prequel trilogy film Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace,[4] which was released on May 19, 1999.[5] The character appeared in a scene filmed on B Stage at Leavesden Studios June 30, 1997,[6] but it was cut from the final release of the film. In the scene, Merian is sat in a repulsorpod with Soma, Aldrete, and Antilles in the Galactic Senate Building on the planet Coruscant when Queen Padmé Amidala calls for a Vote of No Confidence in Supreme Chancellor Finis Valorum. Antilles, who was named Bail Organa during production, then stands and seconds the motion.[4]
In the current Star Wars canon, the character was first mentioned in the 2017 reference book Star Wars: The Visual Encyclopedia.[1] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, Merian was first mentioned and named in the reference book Star Wars: Episode I The Visual Dictionary, which was written by David West Reynolds[7] and released on May 26, 1999.[8]
