Lianorm Swamp was a swamp on Naboo. It stretched over an area of thirty-four square miles and was located on the edge of Lake Paonga and the foothills of the Gallo Mountains.[3]
History[]
Millennia before the Invasion of Naboo,[12] the Elders built a monument within the Lianorm Swamp which was later considered a sacred place by the native Gungans.[3]
The city of Moenia was located near the outskirts of the swamp and served as a meeting place and center of trade between the Naboo and the Gungans.
In 32 BBY, the Trade Federation landed its forces in the Lianorm Swamp during the invasion of Naboo.[3] The swamp was taken over by the Trade Federation.[2] At this time, it served as the adopted homeland of Jar Jar Binks,[3] and it was from here that Binks led Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi to Otoh Gunga. After the Fall of Theed, Trade Federation forces deployed in the Gungan Swamp to raid Gungan villages. Queen Padmé Amidala later went to the Gungan Sacred Place to meet Boss Rugor Nass and finally form an alliance between the Gungans and the Naboo.[2]
Around 32 BBY, podraces were organized in the region and the Lianorm Raceway was set up.[8]
