The Liberation of Camp 4 was a battle during the Battle of Naboo that took place in 32 BBY. During the Trade Federation's occupation of Naboo, one of the first things they did was put most of the population into prisoner camps such as Camp 4. Naboo's Bravo Squadron wanted to liberate the camp to add to the Naboo resistance as they prepared to retake their planet from the Trade Federation.
[edit] The Valley
But first, they had to locate the camp. Under cover of darkness, Bravo Squadron flew into the valley where Camp 4 was supposed to be. The Federation had completely stripped the valley. Kol Kotha, who used to work for the smuggler Borvo the Hutt, had previously scouted the area. One of the pilots, Lutin Hollis, broke formation to look for the camp because his family might be in there. He gave away the squadron’s position when he flew into a Trade Federation installation. The base launched many fighters, as well as a landing craft. The squadron had to fly away under intense fire. Lt. Gavyn Sykes shot down the C-9979 landing craft. Meanwhile, more starfighters and bombers attacked local farmhouses. Kotha said they didn’t have time to help, but the Naboo pilots shot down the attackers anyway. With that threat eliminated, they continued the search for the camp. Flying through a canyon, the squadron found a Trade Federation hangar which was releasing troop carriers. Sykes proposed the Federation was using them to transport prisoners from across the planet. After shooting down the starfighter defenders, he landed in the hangar and took a heavy STAP. He programmed several unoccupied troop carriers to enter the base. He would follow them in.
[edit] The Camp
Once inside the gates, however, the droids scanned the carriers and noticed they were unoccupied. They told Sykes to stop, but when he continued to head into the camp, the base went into high alert. Tanks and Heavy STAPS poured out of their hangars, but Sykes managed to destroy them. He traveled up the nearby cliff and found the first cell blocks. Kol Kotha tried to strafe the power generator but missed. Fire from laser turrets drove him off. Sykes had to destroy it himself. Once inside the block, the prisoners called to him. He told them to stand back so he could blow the door. The prisoners ran to nearby speeders, and he escorted them uphill to the next set of cellblocks, destroying turrets and droids. They hid behind a hangar, while Sykes switched to a Gian speeder. He came out into a maelstrom of fire. Kol Kotha strafed the camp again. This time, he blew a hole into a wall so Sykes could destroy another generator and take the shields off-line. Sykes freed the prisoners and had to go up another cliff to take down the generators powering the entrance to the next section of camp.
[edit] Endgame
As he escorted the prisoners down hill into the last group of cellblocks, they were ambushed by AATs and fighters. The pilot Hollis flew in and took out several tanks, and also blew a hole in the wall, allowing Sykes to take down the last generator which powered the rear entrance to the camp. Sykes freed the last prisoners and went uphill once again to destroy the generator. On the way back down, he found technology useful to the resistance. With the gates now down, all the prisoners could leave. Sykes lead them out, firing at the last droids.
