Life on Tatooine

"Time now for Life on Tatooine, brought to viewers everywhere in the hope that our own lives may be uplifted by the comparison and enriched with the gratitude of relief. This transmission is unrehearsed and unedited, and is hereby begun without further comment as to its lack of moral value."
―Announcer, Life on Tatooine[src]

Life on Tatooine was a holodocumentary[1] that aired in 1 ABY.[2] The film was broadcasted on orders of the Imperial Council, who felt that it would improve the loyalty to the Galactic Empire of those who viewed it. Imperial forces were ordered to watch it.[1]

The film consisted of live, unedited footage of Mos Eisley on Tatooine. Various shots showed citizens of the spaceport going about their daily lives. The holodocumentary also caught visitors to the town, such as Bimm smuggler Rycar Ryjerd running from Imperial stormtroopers and being scared by a stilt-legged creature.[1]

The film's longest segment took place in Chalmun's Cantina, where the bartender Ackmena was on duty. As the footage aired, the Empire ordered a curfew, forcing the cantina patrons to head home prematurely. The crowd grew unruly, but Ackmena managed to sway them to leave with her rendition of "Goodnight, But Not Goodbye," accompanied by the cantina band, Figrin D'an and the Modal Nodes.[1]
