Lightning was a Delta-class DX-9 transport used by the Rebel Alliance during the Galactic Civil War.
When General Crix Madine and several Sullustan technicians planned to end Operation Strike Fear by destroying its command ship, the Imperial-class Star Destroyer Invincible, Lightning was dispatched to capture some technicians from Cygnus Corp during a test of their new spacecraft, the Alpha-class Xg-1 Star Wing.
Keyan Farlander and Sunnar Jan-lo identified the transport carrying the Cygnus staff and then fought off Imperial fighters while the Lightning conducted a boarding operation.
Later the Cygnus techs were 'convinced' to aid the Alliance in destroying the Invincible by modifying a Lambda-class shuttle to plant a stolen warhead on the Star Destroyer.
Lightning also assisted in the capture of Imperial Overlord Ghorin's Y-wings during Operation Grain Snatch.
