- Acky: Nickname for Admiral Ackbar.
- ANH: Acronym for Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.
- AOTC: Acronym for Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones.

- Big Three: Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, and Princess Leia.

- C-canon: The second level of canon; consists of everything established as canon that does not come from either the movies or George Lucas.
- Canon: All Star Wars products, storylines, and events stated by Lucasfilm to be accepted as "official" events in the Star Wars universe.
- Canonista: Someone who attempts to connect disparate elements of canon (coined during an online interview with Abel G. Peña).

- Darth Chicken: Vergere. Used mainly by those who dislike the Potentium or its acceptance by the New Jedi Order.
- DLOTS: Acronym for Dark Lord/Lords/Lady of the Sith.

- ESB: Acronym for Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back.
- EU: Acronym for the Expanded Universe.
- Expanded Universe: All Star Wars products outside of the movies.

- Fan fiction: Fan-written stories set in the Star Wars universe. A fan fiction is also called a fanfic.
- Fandalorian: A fan of Mandalorians, Boba Fett, and/or Karen Traviss.
- Fanon: Fan canon. Fan-created ideas or products that belong to none of the canon levels.
- Femtrooper: female stormtroopers whose armor differs from that of regular male stormtroopers. Mainly refers to fan-made female stormtrooper uniforms. Also seen in fanfilms such as the "George's Angels" segment of Pitching Lucas.
- The Flannelled One: George Lucas.
- Fleet Junkie: A fan who enjoys spaceships.
- TFU: Acronym for The Force Unleashed

- G-canon: The highest level of canon; anything taken from the movies or from George Lucas.
- Gary Stu: A male character that fans deem as being "boosted" by an author at the expense of other characters. Usually the Gary Stu will be an author's character. An example is Corran Horn for Michael Stackpole.
- GFFA: Acronym for Galaxy Far, Far Away.
- GL: Acronym for George Lucas.

- Infinities: Official Star Wars products that are not officially considered to be part of canon.
- ISD: Acronym for Imperial Star Destroyer (not completely fanon).

- KOTOR/KotOR: Acronym for Knights of the Old Republic.

- LOE: Acronym for Labyrinth of Evil.
- Luca$: Used to describe George Lucas by those who feel his primary motivations for making the special editions and prequels was to milk fans for money.

- The Man in Plaid: George Lucas.
- Marakin: Refers to the fan theory, usually on the Jedi Council Forums, that Mara Jade and Anakin Solo are the actual parents of Ben Skywalker.
- Mary Sue: A female character that fans deem as being "boosted" by an author at the expense of other characters. Usually the Mary Sue will be an author's character. An example is Mara Jade for Tim Zahn.

- N-canon: The lowest level used in the canon field of the Holocron continuity database; consists of things that are not canon, such as Infinities material.
- NJO: Acronym for the New Jedi Order series.

- OOT: Acronym for "Original Original Trilogy", i.e. the versions of the Original Trilogy prior to the release of the Star Wars Trilogy Special Edition.
- Original Trilogy: Episodes IV-VI.
- OS: Acronym for Jango Fett: Open Seasons. Alternatively, acronym for "Official Site" (that is, StarWars.com).
- OT: Acronym for Original Trilogy.

- Palpidious: Emperor Palpatine/Darth Sidious.
- Palpy: Palpatine.
- Pelly: Gilad Pellaeon.
- Pioneer - one who has traveled to seek the filming locations of the Star Wars films.
- Prequel Trilogy: Episodes I-III.
- PT: Acronym for Prequel Trilogy.
- Purist: One who only accepts the movies as canon.

- Retcon: A "retroactive continuity;" when disparate elements of canon are connected to each other, or something established is altered (usually to make it fit with contradicting sources).
- Rohmagol: Primarily used on the TFn message boards, referring to the fan theory that Demagol is masquerading as Rohlan Dyre.
- ROTJ: Acronym for Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.
- ROTS: Acronym for Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

- S-canon: Third level of canon; consists of elements of canon taken from non-canon stories.
- Saxtonite: A fan of Curtis Saxton's work. Often used as a perjorative.
- SOTE: Acronym for Shadows of the Empire.
- Space Hippies: Karen Traviss's term for Jedi.
- SSD: Acronym for Super Star Destroyer.
- Story arc: A single story spanning multiple TV show episodes or comic issues (such as To the Last Man). Not to be confused with a comic miniseries (such as Tales of the Jedi: The Sith War).
- SW: Star Wars.

- TaB: Acronym for The Truce at Bakura.
- Talifan: Term used by Karen Traviss for fans that disagree with her vehemently. Reference to the Taliban.
- Timmy: Jacen Solo.
- TOTJ or TotJ: Acronym for Tales of the Jedi.
- TPB: Acronym for trade paperback.
- TPM: Acronym for Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace.
- Trade paperback: A collection of several (usually 4-6) individual comic issues assembled into a single volume.
- Travissty: Used by critics of Karen Traviss, usually referring to the Guide to the Grand Army of the Republic. Perjorative.
- TTT: Acronym for the Thrawn Trilogy.
