The loonee bird was a creature that lived on the forest moon of Endor. The bird laughed incessantly, and any other creature it touched would fall under its spell of uncontrollable laughter, a spell that could plague its victim forever and would temporarily affect any who go near them.

An Ewok legend told of a being at the top of Mount Sorrow whose tears had the power to reverse such spells. When young Teebo came under the spell by plucking a tail feather from a loonee bird, his friends Wicket and Kneesaa journeyed with him to the top of the mountain. They discovered that the creature was the mountain and that his tears really could undo loonee bird's spell.
