Lord High Admiral was a grandiose-sounding military title, which Princess Leia Organa believed that the former Imperial Admiral Harrsk had awarded himself.

However, it is not entirely clear that Harrsk ever actually used this particular style. True, he certainly awarded himself inflated titles, a means of declaring his power and ambition as one of the most prominent of the warlords, military commanders who broke away from the Imperial leadership after the Battle of Endor and set themselves up as independent despots; but no corroborating references are known to confirm that Harrsk ever claimed this particular title. His preferred style seems to have been Supreme Warlord.

If Harrsk did employ a title of "Lord High Admiral", it may have been a variation on the dignity of High Admiral, which denoted the commander of the fleet forces inside a Sector or Oversector of the Empire—although there is no evidence that Harrsk actually had any legitimate claim to this position either.

Behind the scenesEdit

The rank of "Lord High Admiral" is attributed to Harrsk only in Children of the Jedi, and only in Leia's thoughts, where she thinks of him as "the self-styled Lord High Admiral Harrsk" and later simply as "High Admiral Harrsk"; he is referred to as "Admiral Harrsk" by Ackbar, and as "Grand Admiral Harrsk" by See-Threepio.

No mention is made in Children of the Jedi of the title of "Supreme Warlord" which Harrsk uses in Darksaber, and which is also accorded to him in The Bacta War, set several years earlier. Inasmuch as Harrsk seems to have been created for Darksaber and referenced in Children of the Jedi in anticipation of that book, it may be that the title of "Supreme Warlord" had not yet been given to the character at the stage at which Children of the Jedi was written.

It is possible, however, to interpret these lines as meaning that Leia was unsure of exactly what rank Harrsk claimed for himself. Even if this was not intended by author Barbara Hambly, the reference could certainly be retconned as a mistake on the character's part.

The Essential Atlas has confirmed that Harrsk is a "Lord High Admiral".
