Lorn Pavan was an information broker in Coruscant's undercity. His son, Jax, was a Jedi trainee in the time of the Clone Wars.

[edit] Biography

Pavan was born on Corellia, but moved to Coruscant when he was young. Before his career as an information broker, Pavan worked in the Jedi Temple, as one of the Temple Caretakers until the Jedi realized the Force potential in his two year old son, Jax. (Not much is known about Jax's mother, Siena). However, after agreeing to let the Jedi train Jax, Pavan was requested to leave the Temple, as Jedi trainees were seldom allowed contact with their parents. Pavan missed his son terribly, and became extremely hostile towards the Jedi—until he found himself working with one in order to escape from a deadly assassin.

This assassin was a Zabrak, a Sith who was known to his Master as Darth Maul. Maul hunted down Pavan and his droid friend, I-5YQ (or I-Five for short), in order to retrieve a holocube detailing the planned blockade of Naboo that Pavan had obtained. A Jedi Padawan named Darsha Assant helped them escape, and Pavan's hatred towards the Jedi gradually abated as he grew closer to Darsha. However, Darsha sacrificed herself to save Pavan and I-Five, locking them in a carbonite chamber while she orchestrated the massive explosion meant to kill Maul which claimed her life.

Pavan shut I-Five down for his own safety and entrusted him to an acquaintance with instruction to take the droid to the Jedi Temple. The acquaintance, however, saw the value in the modified droid and wiped his memory, putting him in his own service. Pavan, angered by Darsha's death, took a shuttle and followed Darth Maul to a space station orbiting Coruscant. Once on board he sneaked up on Maul, cloaking his presence in the Force with a piece of taozin skin obtained earlier in the underlevels of Coruscant during his run in with the Sith apprentice. Pavan took Maul by surprise with two stun shots from his blaster. However, Maul prevailed by severing Pavan's hand with his lightsaber. Pavan managed to escape, but was ultimately killed by Maul after unwittingly giving the holocube to Darth Sidious himself, in his guise of Senator Palpatine. At the time of Pavan's death, Maul was surprised that Pavan showed no fear, and decided to give him a quick and dignified death.

I-Five later found himself attached to a Rimsoo during the Clone Wars. He worked at reconstructing his memories, and when he finally remembered everything that had happened, he recalled Lorn's final request to him—to watch over his son. I-Five returned to Coruscant to fulfill this request.
