DescriptionEdit

Machineville was an area located in the planet Taris' Lower City during the era of the Mandalorian Wars.[1] True to its name, Machineville was set aside for the droid population of the Lower City, as a place where they could recharge and repair themselves. The area also served as a buffer zone between the rest of the Lower City and refugee camps set up during the Mandalorian Wars.[2] Machineville was also located near a historic Lhosan Industries plant,[3] along with the desolate Junk Junction area of the Lower City.[1]

HistoryEdit

In the time of the Mandalorian Wars, many refugees began to settle and form camps near Machineville,[2] which was known as the "birthplace of the swoop-bike" among the Tarisian racing community.[3] Eventually, Machineville began to be regarded as a buffer zone between these camps and the rest of the Lower City.[2] In 3,963 BBY, the Mandalorians invaded Taris itself, and laid waste to much of its cityscape. Thousands of Tarisians took shelter in the recently abandoned Lhosan Industries plant near Machineville, only for their newfound sanctuary to be destroyed by the Mandalorians. Loss of life was reported to be high.[3]

Behind the scenesEdit

Machineville was first mentioned in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 3: Commencement, Part 3, a comic written by John Jackson Miller and released in 2006.[1] Machineville was also mentioned in The Taris Holofeed: Siege Edition, an in-universe news report appearing on the last page of another Knights of the Republic issue,[3] and in 2008 received an entry in The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia.[2]
