Magnetic grapples were magnetic devices on chains used to secure metal. They launched from hydra-skimmers to latch onto and haul in metal for salvaging. They were also used to pick up droids in Kligson's Moon.

After the battle at the Great Pit of Carkoon in the Dune Sea of Tatooine, C-3PO and R2-D2, whom had fallen into the sand, were recovered with magnetic grapples beneath a skiff.^[1]
