- "Maintenance droids are such useful things to have around."
- ―Talon Karrde
Maintenance droids, also known as repair droids, were class two droids that performed simple to complex cleaning, repair, and general maintenance tasks such as repairing fellow droids. A pit droid was a type of repair droid that maintained podracer vehicles.[2] The MN-2E general maintenance droid,[3] T3-series utility droid, BLX labor droid, WED Treadwell repair droid, the MSE-series droid, and astromech droids such as the R-series were used as repair droids.[4]
R2-D2 was an astromech droid aboard a Naboo star cruiser, was rewarded for emergency maintenance on the ship's deflector shields, and was the only repair droid to survive the task.[5]
