Mala was a Human female supporter of the Rebel Alliance.

While assiting her father Rallo run supplies to the Alliance, she met the young Wedge Antilles. The two soon became romantically involved.
During Antilles's time as a legitimate freighter pilot, Mala insisted that he help her father run supplies to the fledging Rebellion. Cautious of the consequences, Antilles regretfully refused.
After the future Rebel hero had left for another routine flight, Mala and her father's Rebel cell were accused of treason by the Imperial officer Turrant and fought back valiantly. The Galactic Empire completely devastated the small town on Gus Talon, and the young Mala disappeared, presumably dead or captured. It was an event that would solidify Wedge Antilles' place in the Rebel Alliance and forever haunt him.
