Malya was Rukil's last apprentice, a Human female native to the Undercity of Taris.

While seeking clues to the location of the Promised Land, she found evidence that Rukil's father and grandfather had entered the lower sewers of Taris and entered the information in her journal. She was killed by rakghouls in the Undercity surface (unlike Rukil's father and grandfather who were killed in the sewers), but her journal and the journals of Rukil's father and grandfather were recovered and taken to Rukil by Revan in 3,956 BBY.

Rukil gave the three journals to Gendar, preparing the Outcasts to leave the village for the Promised Land.
