Mammals were a galactic summary of a group of vertebrate animals whose females were characterized by the possession of mammary glands while both males and females were characterized by sweat glands, hair, three middle ear bones used in hearing, and a neocortex region in the brain. Most mammals gave birth to live young, but there were exceptions. Humans were mammals, as were Wookiees.
