The Mandalorian Civil War followed the schism of the Mandalorian warriors in the decades preceding the Clone Wars.
[edit] History
It began in 60 BBY, with Jaster Mereel becoming Mandalore of the clans and outlining a Supercommando Codex. Those "mercs" who wished to continue the old, "dishonorable ways" opposed Mereel, and formed the Death Watch, under the leadership of Vizsla. A third faction, the New Mandalorians, followed pacifism.
The loyalists of Mereel fought Vizsla's Death Watch, until Jaster's betrayal and death on Korda 6. From then, the Mandalorian loyalists were led by Jango Fett until 44 BBY, when they were annihilated by Jedi Master Dooku in the Battle of Galidraan after falling into a trap laid by the Death Watch.
After the extinction of the "True" Mandalorians, the Death Watch turned on the New Mandalorians, a faction of pacifists that had not allied with either of the other two factions during the civil war.
