Manka Squad was a squad of clone commandos trained on the watery world of Kamino to serve in the Grand Army of the Republic. Comprised of four clones of the Mandalorian bounty hunter Jango Fett, Manka Squad served in the Galactic Republic's Special Operations Brigade throughout the Clone Wars on missions against the Confederacy of Independent Systems requiring the skill of the Republic's elite special forces clones.

HistoryEdit

The soldiers of Manka Squad were born on the aquatic world of Kamino,^[3] located in the region of the galaxy known as Wild Space.^[4] Raised and trained by a member of the Cuy'val Dar to serve in the Grand Army of the Republic, the squad was comprised of four clones of the Mandalorian bounty hunter named Jango Fett. When the Clone Wars broke out between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Manka Squad was pressed into service as part of the Grand Army's Special Operations Brigade along with all of the clone commandos and ARC troopers.^[1]

After the Confederacy's assault on the planet Coruscant under the leadership of General Grievous, Manka Squad was tasked with assisting the Coruscant Security Force with restoring order on the war-shaken world. Assisted in this task by fellow Republic commandos from Aquila Squad and Omega Squad, the soldiers of Manka Squad split into pairs and boarded CSF assault ships, heading into Galactic City to patrol.^[2]

EquipmentEdit

Manka Squad, like all of their fellow Republic commando squads, was equipped with Katarn-class commando armor which they had the option of decorating in unique color schemes of their own choosing. In addition, the squad was issued the blaster standard to all clone commandos, the DC-17m Interchangeable Weapon System, which could be configured as a common blaster rifle, sniper rifle, or grenade launcher with the use of varied attachments.^[1]

Behind the scenesEdit

Manka Squad first appeared in a minor role in the 2008 novel, Order 66: A Republic Commando Novel, the fourth entry in the Republic Commando series by author Karen Traviss. To date, this has been the squad's only appearance in Star Wars canon.

Manka Squad shares it's name with the wild, nerf-hunting Manka cats of Alderaan. No canonical connection between the two has been established at this current time.
