Characteristics
Edit

Being a joint venture, the design reflected the artistic qualities of both races and were remarkably adaptable to different environments, which included atmospheric flight, space, and underwater.
The basic frame was based on a Gungan cargo submersible, was enhanced by Naboo engineers to make it spaceworthy. and included bubble-shaped modular sections. This allowed it to carry 100 metric tons more cargo or 30 more people or to hold wildlife in the cargo bay, which in turn allowed the Mantaris-class medium transport to carry four pods at a time. It could also carry ER-1 probe droids. The vessel also boasted a Holoviewer. The class was named after a fish species it resembled.
History
Edit
The design came to fruition during the attempt to colonize Ohma-D'un, a moon of Naboo. The Mantaris-class medium transport was the Gungans' principle means of transport between worlds.
Behind the scenes
Edit
The Mantaris transport closely resembles a Manta Ray.
The transport first appeared not in a game, but instead in the The Ultimate Star Wars Episode I Sticker Book. It would not appear again until 23 days later, when Star Wars Episode I: The Gungan Frontier was released. Despite its appearance in the Sticker Book, it had no appearance in The Phantom Menace.
