Marka Ragnos's tomb
Redirected from Marka Ragnos' tomb
Marka Ragnos's tomb was one of the many tombs in the Valley of the Dark Lords on Korriban. It was the tomb of ancient and legendary Sith Lord Marka Ragnos.

History
Edit
The tomb was built after the Dark Lord's death around 5,000 BBY. Right after the tomb being built, it held Ragnos's funeral which saw rivaling Sith Lords Naga Sadow and Ludo Kressh duel each other for Ragnos' tittle.
Around a millennium later, during the Jedi Civil War, Revan and his companions visited the tomb during their search for the Star Forge. Revan had to enter the tomb and retrieve an old Sith artifact in order to impress Uthar Wynn enough that Wynn would grant him access to Naga Sadow's tomb where a Star Map was located.
During the Cold War, many Sith, specially acolytes still in training, visited the tomb after the Sith Empire re-conquering the planet in the previous war, some years earlier. There were also several Sith deserters in the tomb. During this time, the Emperor's Wrath travelled there to slay the Beast of Marka Ragnos during his training trials. Sith acolyte Kallig, also went there to acquire a Sith holocron that no Sith had been able to acquire in thousands of years.

Millennia later, at the culmination of Battle of Korriban and the crisis of the Disciples of Ragnos who sought to resurrect Ragnos, Jaden Korr, who was a member of the New Jedi Order and Kyle Katarn's student, defeated both the cult leader Tavion Axmis and the spirit of Ragnos. Korr subsequently sealed the tomb's entrance, trapping Ragnos's spirit there, and also prevented anyone from entering that place again.[1]
Layout
Edit
Exterior
Edit
It was located in the Valley of the Dark Lords near the Sith Academy.
Interior
Edit
This tomb was composed by several divisions, some of which were accessible during the Cold War, including:
- A reliquary inhabited by many Sith acolytes deserters and Shyracks.
- The burial grounds, where the Mutant Tuk'ata lived, the same tuk'ata that Lord Renning was looking for.
Behind the scenes
Edit
The tomb appears in three video game series and one comic book series, but the depiction of the tomb as well as its location in the Valley of the Dark Lords in all four sources are dissimilar to each other, which also goes for their depictions of the Valley of the Dark Lords itself.
- In Jedi Academy the tomb is a separate building, the most impressive of the valley, with a huge statue of Ragnos outside above a high stair; all this was seemingly based on Tales of the Jedi
- Inside, the building is a whole complex of rooms, roofs, levels and stages and the sarcophagus is located in a wide chamber.
- In KOTOR (which happens a few decades years after the Tales of the Jedi) the exterior is quite indifferent compared to the other tombs, and its interior is a small set of corridors; Ragnos' sarcophagus is found in one of them. However, to reach the tomb there is a long ramp similar to the corridor in Jedi Academy.
This has created a serious continuity problem that has never been brought into consideration and would be very difficult to retcon, unless some future source suggests that there were two different tombs (one for his body and a secondary one in a different place for his honor), or that his body was, transferred sometime. However, the continuity problem was caused as necessary differences of presentation for the purpose of, in the case of the games, the gameplay.
