The Mas Ramdar was a Dreadnaught-class heavy cruiser in Republic Navy during the Clone Wars. Part of Home Fleet Strike Group Five, the Mas Ramdar served during the Battle of Coruscant in 19 BBY, destroying or disabling many Confederate warships during the seven day space engagement over Coruscant. On the final day of the battle, Strike Group Five clashed with the Providence-class destroyer Invisible Hand, which was holding the captured Republic Supreme Chancellor Palpatine on board. The Mas Ramdar and the rest of the Strike Group Five prevented the Invisible Hand from escaping the Coruscant system, allowing a pair of Jedi to infiltrate the Invisible Hand and rescue Palpatine. However, the Mas Ramdar was seriously damaged by the Invisible Hand's heavy turbolaser turrets during the fight, forcing the dreadnaught to retreat during the battle.

Manufactured by Rendili StarDrive,^[1] the Mas Ramdar was a Dreadnaught-class heavy cruiser in Republic Navy during the Clone Wars against the Confederacy of Independent Systems.^[2] At 600 meters long, the Mas Ramdar was armed with twenty quad turbolaser cannons, ten turbolaser batteries, and ten turbolaser cannons.^[1]

HistoryEdit

The Mas Ramdar was part of Strike Group Five of the Republic's Home Fleet, which was tasked with the defense of the capital planet of Coruscant. Like the rest of the Home Fleets' Strike Groups, Strike Group Five—made up of the Mas Ramdar and three Carrack-class cruisers Integrity, Indomitable, and Perseverance—was hastily assembled during the Clone Wars to protect against a Separatist attack.

That attack did come when the Confederacy invaded Coruscant in 19 BBY. The Strike Group Five and the rest of the Home Fleet engaged the Separatist flotilla—lead by cyborg General Grievous—in the space above Coruscant. During the seven day battle, the Mas Ramdar destroyed or disabled many Separatist warships.

However, General Grievous managed to capture Republic Supreme Chancellor Palpatine during the fighting raging on Coruscant's surface. With Palpatine being held aboard Grievous's flagship—the Providence-class destroyer Invisible Hand—the Confederacy sounded a retreat on the final day of the battle and attempted to escape Coruscant with their captive.
