[edit] Biography
When she refused to promote her Padawan to Knight, Nadd lashed out at her. Seeing the situation as a prime test for him, Matta deliberately gave him an opportunity to strike her down—a test which Nadd failed; Nadd didn't stop his blade in time, and it struck Tremayne, killing her. While at first he grieved for her, Nadd quickly turned his grief to hate, believing Tremayne had brought her death upon herself.
Nadd left the Jedi Order forever, and became a powerful Dark Lord of the Sith.
[edit] Behind the scenes
It has been hypothesized by some that Matta Tremayne was in fact an ancient ancestor of later Imperial High Inquisitor Antinnis Tremayne, similar to Vima Sunrider's relationship to Vima-Da-Boda from this same era, though this has yet to be officially confirmed.
