Maxim was a senator of the Galactic Republic. He caused a minor scandal around 33 BBY, resulting in charges of corruption to be made against him. Supreme Chancellor Finis Valorum did not intervene due to issues with the Trade Federation arising from the Nebula Front destroying the Revenue.
