"What can you see? On a world called Mechis III? Can you see what they will do? Can you see them? Crafting a new body for their old leader…and restoring his mind."
―The Eye of Webbish Bog, to Darth Vader, on the rebuilding of Ajax Sigma[4]

Mechis III was a small planetoid vital to the Techno Union. It was defended by a mix of starships from member corporations and design firms such as SoroSuub Corporation.

Description[]

A small planetoid,[5] Mechis III was a terrestrial world[4] located in the Inner Rim Territories. Situated at the coordinates L-14 on the Standard Galactic Grid, it lay along the Corellian Trade Spine between the[1] planets[6][7] Bestine IV and Yag'Dhul.[1]

History[]

During the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Separatist Alliance, the Techno Union, a corporation tied to the Separatists, controlled Mechis III. To protect Mechis and its other vital worlds from Republic forces, the Techno Union provided a mix of overstock and prototype starships and starfighters its own member corporations and design firms like the SoroSuub Corporation, as well as deploying some Hardcell-class interstellar transports.[3]

By the time of the Galactic Civil War between the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance, the neural core of Ajax Sigma, a droid insurgent that had been destroyed by Jedi Knights during the High Republic Era, was brought to Mechis III by his followers. The followers rebuilt and reactivated Sigma over at an operating table.[4] During the time of the war, an IG-series assassin droid fought on Mechis.[8]

Behind the scenes[]

Mechis III was first mentioned, as Mechis, in the new Star Wars canon in Star Wars: The Force Awakens Beginner Game, a 2016 supplement to Fantasy Flight Games' series of Star Wars roleplaying products.[1] The world was later pictured and identified fully in the card "Automated Assassin," which was released as part of Fantasy Flight Games' Star Wars: The Card Game in the pack Desperate Circumstances in 2017.[8] Mechis III originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was first mentioned in the 1995 novel Darksaber, which was by Kevin J. Anderson.[9]
