Mercator was a Broadside-class cruiser in the Imperial Navy during the Galactic Civil War.

Behind the scenesEdit

In the real world, Gerardus Mercator was a 16th century cartographer who invented a form of cylindrical map projection which is still in common use. Nicholas Mercator was a 17th century German mathematician. As with starships like Magellan, we should probably assume Mercator is named for a famous but unrelated individual in galactic history or a coincidentally similar word in an alien language.
