Metalwork droids were used around 27 BBY to help repair structural damage sustained by starships in deep space. About half a dozen of these small droids were used aboard the doomed vessel Outbound Flight in an attempt to repair the damage caused by Commander Mitth'raw'nuruodo and the Chiss Expansionary Defense Force.
