Michael Giacchino (born October 10, 1967 in Riverside Township, New Jersey) is an Oscar-winning film composer who composed the music for Star Tours: The Adventures Continue and played FN-3181 in Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens. He also composed the score for the film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and provided additional voices. Giacchino replaced Alexandre Desplat in scoring duties for the film, following Desplat's departure due to a scheduling conflict resulting from post-production delays.
He has also served as composer for many of The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams' projects, such as the TV series Lost and Alias and the motion pictures Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Jurassic World, Star Trek, Star Trek Into Darkness and Star Trek Beyond. Along with Kevin Kiner, Giacchino is one of only two composers who has written music for both Star Wars and Star Trek.
