Michael P. Kube-McDowell (or K-Mac, as he calls himself) is a science fiction author. He has published thirteen novels, including the three books of The Black Fleet Crisis trilogy.

"Michael P. Kube-McDowell" is a pen name. The author's real name is simply Michael Paul McDowell. The "Kube" part of his pen name is pronounced "CUE-bee".^[1]
