A micronnium (plural micronnia) was a unit of time,[1] composed of one million years, or one thousand millennia.[2]

Behind the scenesEdit

The neologism "micronnium" was created by Abel G. Peña for his novella SkyeWalkers: A Clone Wars Story. Peña found that the existing astronomical term "megaannus" was too ungraceful, and he followed the International System of Units prefix conventions to coin a new term.[2] However, the prefix micro- actually denotes a factor of 10^-6 (one millionth). The proper prefix denoting a factor of 10^6 (one million) is mega-.[3]
