The Midnight Star was a modified YV-545 light freighter, captained by Cala Worner, and co-piloted by Thul Kariss. It was registered to the Outer Rim Trade Consortium, and was affiliated with the Rebel Alliance.

It was first seen on the planet Kwevron, where its crew became embroiled in the discovery and partial rescue of a Rebel cell. Its crew transported Rebel operatives to Duro and Tatooine, simultaneous with the escape of Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi, and rescued Senator Alku Vordu on Daroon. During the Imperial attack on Aargonar 3, it transported Commander Hamelin, Cala Worner and Gruu Dunrik to safety.
