Mike Hansen (a.k.a. Michael D. Hansen) is a freelance books researcher who has assembled the contents of the Star Wars Epic Collections and several Star Wars Omnibuses published by Marvel. He was previously a writer/editor at Dark Horse Comics who worked on several Star Wars series.

In addition to writing Star Wars Handbook 2: Crimson Empire, Mike was assistant editor on several Star Wars titles in 1998-2000, including Crimson Empire, The Last Command (uncredited), X-Wing Rogue Squadron, Star Wars Handbook, Star Wars Special: The Constancia Affair, Mara Jade: By the Emperor's Hand, The Jabba Tape, Prelude to Rebellion, Boba Fett: Enemy of the Empire, Vader's Quest, the Episode I one-shots Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Queen Amidala, Qui-Gon Jinn, and Episode I: The Phantom Menace ½, Star Wars 0, Outlander, The Bounty Hunters, Star Wars Tales, Podracing Tales, Union, Chewbacca (uncredited, with Dan Harris), and Emissaries to Malastare.

Alongside editor Peet Janes, Mike helped shepherd the transition of the Star Wars comics line to the new prequel era in 1999, and represented Dark Horse's line of Star Wars comics at the first Star Wars Celebration.

Since 2015, Mike has researched the contents of all of Marvel's Star Wars Epic Collections, with the goal of reprinting all of Marvel's Star Wars material from 1977-1987 in approximate publication order, and Dark Horse Comics's Star Wars material in approximate chronological order based on the Legends timeline. In addition to determining the story contents and story order, Mike has written the introductory story-so-far text and compiled the non-story bonus features for each Epic Collection volume.

Mike currently lives in California. He is also currently a writer, comics retailer, and bookseller.
