Mine crabs were small but dangerous scavengers who lived within the subterranean levels of Artus Prime. They did not resemble crabs in the traditional sense, though they scuttled about on crablike legs. Instead of pincers, mine crabs possessed large mouths lined with sharp teeth. They had red and purple eyes.

Because of their small size, mine crabs worked together to bring down larger prey, such as Humans. They were not very strong individually, but greatly made up for this in number. Kyle Katarn experienced this firsthand when he was on Artus Prime on a mission for Mon Mothma. He would also later witness a pit fight between two of these creatures in Baruk's Bar on Nar Shaddaa.
