The Ministry of Science and Education was a ministry of the bureaucracy of the Galactic Republic that dealt with civilian affairs in the fields of Science and Education. The Ministry was lead by the Minister of Science and Education and presumably funded Republic related schools, academies, libraries, museums and universities, including the General Ministry Institutes. The Ministry of Science, not to be confused with this ministry, was a separate ministry under the Office of the Supreme Chancellor.

When the Galactic Empire took over the galaxy, the ministry was reorganized and most likely answered to the Emperor's top advisors through the Imperial Ruling Council. Both COMPNOR and the ISB would have kept a close eye on its bureaucratic functions.
