The mip was a tiny, parasitic insect native to the planet Geonosis. Mips flew in swarms.

Mip swarms were often found accompanying massive merdeths, with which the mip lived in a symbiotic relationship. Mips would feed on the ichor that accumulated on that creature's armored body, and in return proved highly useful to the predatory merdeths; helping them track down prey, and even attacking any creatures foolish enough to attempt to kill the merdeth.
