The Mission to Dantooine was a skirmish that took place following the Battles of Yavin IV on the planet Dantooine. An Imperial named Tycho Celchu had secretly contacted the Rebel Alliance regarding his planned defection, though this was quickly discovered by his superiors and he was arrested at his extraction site.

[edit] The rescue mission

As a result, Red Squadron was sent on a mission to extract him, with Luke Skywalker leading the way on a speeder bike, however by the time he had reached the destination point, Celchu was already loaded on an APC and on route towards a transport. Heavy blaster fire from e-web cannons disabled the vehicle and allowed Celchu a chance to get away.

[edit] The escape

A small strike team had touched down on the planet to rendezvous with Skywalker and Celchu at extraction point, which was on the other side of the canyon. The method of escape was two stolen speeder bikes. The route was bombarded by TIE/sa bombers, resulting in the death of several strike team members. The mission was ultimately a success, and Celchu was escorted out by remaining survivors.

[edit] Aftermath

Celchu would supply the Alliance with intelligence that several scientists situated on the planet Ralltiir wished to defect to the Alliance, but were also discovered. They were holed in the main city, protected by a forcefield. Celchu requested that the squadron help extract them before the Imperials got to them.

Celchu would become a successful member of the Rebel Alliance, later flying for the successor to Red Squadron, Rogue Squadron.
