In 3 ABY, the Freemakers undertook a mission to Cloud City on the planet Bespin to recover Lando Calrissian's "lost treasure". They were followed by the bounty hunters Dengar, Baash, and Raam, who were searching for Rowan Freemaker. The undercover Sith and Rowan's "Jedi" mentor Naare also traveled to Cloud City, believing that the Freemakers were searching for another piece of the Kyber Saber crystal. Following a skirmish with the bounty hunters, the Freemakers and Naare joined forces to rescue Rowan and to restore Cloud City repulsorlift generator.

Prelude[]

"I'm an appropriately tall adult person capable of retrieving this precious cargo."
"I'm sorry, Mr. Appropriately Tall. I'm only hiring real adult persons."
"Looks to me like you're not hiring anybody. I've got a ship and a crew, and we could handle your grab-and-go job, no problem. Is that real enough for you?"
"Is everyone on your crew as tall as you?"
"Taller."
―Rowan Freemaker and Lando Calrissian[1]

During the escape from Cloud City, Lando Calrissian tasked Lobot with recovering his "treasure" from his personal quarters. However, Lobot accidentally activated the chamber's lava lamp and was captured by stormtroopers. After joining the Rebel Alliance, Lando sought to recover his "lost treasure." He traveled to the Wheel's Lower Ring and tried to recruit several bounty hunters including IG-88. However, Cloud City was under Imperial occupation and none of the hunters were willing to undertake such as risky job.[1]

While visiting the Lower City with his older brother Zander Freemaker, Rowan convinced Lando to hire him and his siblings. Short on funds to pay their rent and living expenses, the Freemakers accepted Lando's job and traveled to Cloud City. The Freemakers were followed by the bounty hunters Dengar, Baash, and Raam, who had been sent by the Hutt crime lord Graballa to hunt for Rowan. Another party that followed them was the undercover Sith Naare, who was searching for the pieces of the Kyber Saber crystal. She believed that the Freemakers had gone to search for the ancient lightsaber without alerting her.[1]

The mission[]

Going undercover[]

The Freemakers managed to bluff their way through the stormtrooper sentries by posing as maintenance workers. While Zander and Rowan headed into the depths of Cloud City to repair the Carbon-freezing chamber, Kordi sneaked off and exited the building through the exhaust system. She then scaled the building and reached Calrissian's personal quarters. Meanwhile, Dengar and his fellow bounty hunters managed to bribe their way past the guards. Later, Naare arrived aboard the Eclipse Fighter and use a mind trick to compel the stormtroopers to throw themselves off the landing platform.[1]

After flicking off Lando's lava lamp, she managed to find the brief case containing Lando's "lost treasure" inside his wardrobe. However, she was soon discovered by a pair of stormtroopers. Kordi managed to bluff her way out of trouble by claiming that she had to go and fill a fumigation order. Meanwhile, Rowan struggled to repair the cooler tube in the carbon-freeze chamber using his Force powers. Zander managed to fix the tube with the help of Rowan's Force powers. Despite fixing the tube, Rowan was frozen in carbonite.[1]

Rescuing Rowan[]

At that point, Kordi entered the carbon-freeze chamber with the brief case containing Lando's treasure. Dengar and his fellow bounty hunters then snatched the case only for it to be snatched by Naare, who believed that it contained a Kyber Saber crystal. Upon recognizing the frozen Rowan, Dengar and his fellow hunters kidnapped the boy. The Freemakers and Naare joined forces to rescue Rowan. During the pursuit, Dengar managed to knock out Naare with the brief case.[1]

The bounty hunters then tried to flee offworld in their starship but Zander used Naare's Jedi lightsaber to cut the cable connecting the repulsorlift generator. This prevented the bounty hunters from escaping offworld but caused the city to drift into the depths of Bespin. As the bounty hunters fell through Cloud City's hallways, Naare and the Freemakers lay in wait and rescued Rowan's body.[1]

Following a pursuit and struggle through Cloud City's hallways, the Freemakers and Naare also managed to recover Lando's briefcase. The bounty hunters ended up trapped in a cell. After unfreezing Rowan, the Freemakers got him to repair the cable connecting the repulsorlift generator. Despite being temporarily blind due to hibernation sickness, Rowan managed to use his Force powers to join back the cable. As a result, Cloud City's balance was restored and the city returned to its normal position.[1]

Aftermath[]

Having completed their mission, the Freemakers and Naare returned to their garage on the Wheel. There, they were greeted by Lando and Chewbacca who paid them enough credits to cover their living expenses. Naare fainted when she realized that the "lost treasure" was not a Kyber Saber crystal but Lando's cape. Meanwhile, Dengar and his fellow bounty hunters waited in prison on Cloud City. A break in the case came when Dengar found the Freemakers' business card and learned the name of the mysterious boy he had been after: Rowan Freemaker.[1]
