The Mission to Sulon, also known as The Return Home to Sulon was a mission undertaken by Kyle Katarn. Having retrieved his father's holodisk on Nar Shaddaa from 8t88, Kyle returned to his family home on Sulon, to find the only means of playing back the information on the disk was the Katarn family's droid, WeeGee.

The HomesteadEdit

Kyle Katarn in the Katarn homestead.

While the Moldy Crow was under repaired, Kyle took a transport to Sulon, landing some distance from his home. Proceeding on foot, Kyle arrived just in time to see a Lambda-class shuttle take off from in front of the house. Unbeknownst to Katarn, the shuttle carried Dark Jedi Sariss, Boc and Yun, as well as the only known map to the Valley of the Jedi. Kyle approached the property, finding it in a state of disarray and overrun by Grave Tuskens. Though the main entrance to the structure was locked, Kyle was able to gain entry to the main part of the house via a back window.

The extensive damage that the house had sustained prevented Kyle from proceeding directly to his father's workshop, forcing him to pass through the natural power generator that Morgan had constructed. Fighting off the Grave Tuskens and swarms of large, flying insectoid creatures, Kyle finally made it to the workshop, dropping in through the ceiling which had previously been removed. Amid the clutter, Kyle found the dusty, inactive form of his father's droid, WeeGee. After activating it, Katarn inserted his father's holodisk into a slot on the droid, which projected a hologram of his father. The hologram was a message left by Morgan for his son Kyle, instructing him to protect the Valley of the Jedi by using a map embedded in the stone ceiling above the workshop. Looking up, Kyle realized that the workshop's roof was missing due to the fact that it had already been stolen by Jerec.

WeeGee and Kyle Katarn escape.

Morgan had one final gift for his son—the lightsaber that had once belonged to Morgan's friend, Jedi Knight Qu Rahn. WeeGee, who had been storing the lightsaber in a secret compartement, gave the lightsaber to Kyle. After a brief practice session in which Kyle discovered his latent Force ability, Katarn and WeeGee left the homestead in a T-4 transport.

Following an irrigation channel, Kyle and WeeGee left the Katarn farm and headed for Baron's Hed. Along the way, Kyle and WeeGee fought off mailocs, water cycs, a Grave Tusken speeder gang, and even an outdated Imperial war droid. Kyle and WeeGee were finally recovered by Jan Ors in the newly repaired Moldy Crow. The mercenaries then landed on a mesa overlooking the city.

Search for 8t88Edit

Kyle Katarn fought his way past several AT-STs.

Using a pair of electrobinoculars, the pair surveyed the city from a distance. Jan suspected that 8t88 was in the massive, foreboding administration tower known as Government House. Katarn entered the city, fighting thugs hired by the Imperial Remnant. He fought his way inside the tower and located 8t88.

When Kyle found 8t88 in the tower, the droid had just finished transmitting the holo-copy of the map embedded in the floor of the structure to Jerec. Kyle commanded the droid to return the map just as the Dark Youth, Yun, entered the room. Yun then destroyed the map with his lightsaber.

Eager to defeat his first Jedi, Yun mocked Kyle and engaged him in combat. However, the Jedi was victorious, and to Yun's surprise, spared his life. Wounded, Yun retrieved his lightsaber and escaped through the ceiling, levitating with the Force. Once again in search of 8t88, Kyle navigated the towers of Government House and reached the upper docking bay, only to see the droid's shuttle lift off.

The Sulon StarEdit

The Moldy Crow escapes Fuel City.

After escaping the palace, Kyle was picked up by Jan in the Moldy Crow and taken to Fuel City. There Kyle fought his way through the facility's maze of pipes and fuel tanks. Reaching Jerec's cargo ship as it detached from the refueling gantry, Kyle leapt aboard.

All TIE fighters pursuing the Moldy Crow were destroyed.

After entering Jerec's ship, the Sulon Star, via the top hatch and finding 8t88's shuttle by passing through the ship's reactor, Kyle finally tracked the droid down only to be ambushed when 8t88's head dropped off his shoulders. Jerec's apprentices Gorc and Pic, the "Brothers of the Sith", had been waiting for 8t88 when he arrived on the Sulon Star for his payment. In the ensuing fight, Kyle blasted Gorc in the face, and used 8t88's severed head to crush Pic's head. Taking the droid's head (and the map to the Valley contained within) with him, Kyle traversed the ship's catwalk system and made his way back to the uppermost deck.

Moments later, the Moldy Crow, hotly pursued by TIE fighters, swooped down to recover Kyle. A chase through the Nefra Canyons ensued, during which all TIEs were destroyed. The Rebels then touched down at the Katarn farm. After several hours of sleep, and with WeeGee's help, the map to the Valley of the Jedi was successfully recovered from 8t88's brain.
