- "Survival is not our goal here—only destroying the enemy."
"We get one shot at this. We win, or die trying."
"Every one of us is expendable. If the galaxy is to survive, the Emperor must fall." - ―Lord Scourge and the Hero to the rest of their group
The Dromund Kaas operation was a covert operation carried out by the Jedi Knight known as the Hero of Tython and the Jedi's allies with the purpose of confronting the Emperor of the Sith Empire during the renewed war between the Galactic Republic and the Empire. After the Hero foiled the attempts of the Emperor's agents to massacre thousands of innocents on the planets Belsavis, Voss, and Corellia, a sacrifice which was necessary to start the Emperor's dark side ritual to consume all life in the galaxy, Grand Master of the Jedi Order Satele Shan launched an invasion of the Imperial capital Dromund Kaas while the Hero and crew located the Emperor on the surface. Fighting their way through Kaas City and stealing the Sith Emperor's shuttle, the group flew to the nearby Dark Temple and battled their way through Sith and Imperial Guardsmen.
The Jedi Knight Kira Carsen, the former Emperor's Wrath Scourge, the combat medic Doc, and the Republic trooper Sergeant Fideltin Rusk engaged the Temple's defenders while the Hero and the astromech droid T7-O1 fought the Emperor in a final confrontation for the fate of the galaxy. The Emperor was struck down in battle with the Knight, and though only the host body for his immortal essence was slain, the Jedi and the galaxy at large believed him to be dead. The Sith Lord Darth Malgus, long at odds with many of the Empire's policies, claimed the Emperor's space station and declared a New Empire, and the six powerful Sith known as the Dread Masters decided that they would claim the galaxy for themselves.

Prelude
Edit
- "I've also learned the Emperor is on Dromund Kaas. His efforts against us have weakened him. Our enemy is vulnerable—for now. The Emperor is determined to destroy the galaxy. It's him, or us."
"You must face the Emperor again. And this time, you cannot fail." - ―The Hero of Tython and Satele Shan
The duel
Edit
- "I will not be contained I cannot be redeemed. Death is all that remains, and you will not kill me."
"I don't want to kill you—but you will face justice for your crimes."
"There is no justice. There is only... revenge." - ―The Sith Emperor and the Hero of Tython
Confronting the Sith in the Temple, the Knight defeated the Emperor and killed his current Voice, the body that he was possessing. The Sith Emperor, while still alive, was severely weakened, and hid his survival from the Jedi and his spirit fled the citadel to rest and recover. Parts of the citadel were damaged in the battle, when Vitiate tried to bring the ceiling down on his foe.

Behind the scenes
Edit
The Dromund Kaas operation first appeared in the Jedi Knight class's finale mission "Doomsday" in Star Wars: The Old Republic, a video game released by BioWare and LucasArts in 2011. The mission is identified as the "Dromund Kaas operation" by the droid RL-4, who introduces the Karagga's Palace Operation for Republic players,[8] and the events of the Operation are revealed to have been directly influenced by the death of the Emperor in the Operation Explosive Conflict. The Dread Masters' recent expansion into Hutt Cartel territory and their actions on Denova are a result of the Emperor's "death", as he no longer controls them and they decide to become independent—thereby setting up the events of the Karagga's Palace, Explosive Conflict, and Terror From Beyond Operations.
