The Mon Calamary Expeditionary Service was a venture of planetary trading service developed by the Mon Calamari species. One of the first designs of the Mon Calamari Shipyards, the submersible DeepWater-class light freighter, was developed to be used by the Service.

After 10,000 units of DeepWater had been built, the Galactic Empire decided to dissolve the Service. The Mon Calamari were forced to auction their DeepWaters.
